Helen Saunders

General Practitioner

I am a GP at the Refugee Health Screening Service, as part of a team undertaking health screening of newly arrived refugees and asylum seekers in New Zealand. My main role is to manage chronic diseases detected at screening or on investigation, assess acute issues, and handover information to primary care and public health in the seven resettlement cities around New Zealand.

I have worked in general practice in Wellington, Whitianga and Auckland over the last 27 years and appreciated the continuity of care and diversity of this area. I have also had roles at student health at several universities and enjoyed having students working alongside me.
