Helen Saunders

General Practitioner

I joined the organisation in 2006 and have also worked in general practice in Wellington, Whitianga and Auckland over the last 30 years.

Between 2006 and early 2020 I worked in the Refugee Health Screening Service, screening newly arrived refugees and asylum seekers at the Māngere Refugee Resettlement Centre. This involved managing chronic diseases detected at screening or on investigation, assessing acute issues, and communicating information to primary care and public health in the seven resettlement cities around New Zealand.

I have also had roles at student health at several universities and enjoyed having students working alongside me.
