I am a medical officer. My work is divided between the Mangere Refugee Resettlement Centre and the Cornwall Complex at Greenlane Clinical Centre. At the refugee centre I provide medical screening and some medical care. At the Cornwall Complex I assess and manage notifiable diseases, and undertake infectious disease control work. This includes working with the public health nurses for the South Auckland region, providing support and care for people with tuberculosis. I also provide clinical input for metallic lead notifications
I have worked in public health since 1987, initially in school health, immigration health and infectious disease control, and started working at the Mangere Refugee Resettlement Centre in 1994. I have screened over 7000 refugees and asylum seekers.
