Managing your private information for the BCG vaccine

All the information you provide will be used to help run the BCG vaccination programme. Information from the consent form and details of each immunisation given will be recorded in the National Immunisation Register. This information will be treated with care to ensure we meet our obligations under the Privacy Act 2020 and the Health Information Privacy Code 2020.

Some information, such as information about reactions to the vaccine, will be shared with other organisations who provide health services such as the Centre for Adverse Reactions Monitoring. 

To care for you in the best way possible our doctors, nurses and other health professionals directly associated with your child's care need to view your health information. Other Health New Zealand (NZ) - Te Whatu Ora staff may need to view your information for administration, quality improvement activities, teaching and, in some cases, for medical research. We will always:

  • Keep your personal information confidential.
  • Let you view your records.
  • Acknowledge your request for corrections to your records.
  • Acknowledge your request not to release your information.
