David Sinclair

Public Health Medicine Specialist

I am a public health medical specialist and medical officer of health, working mainly in environmental health and public policy.

I am involved in water quality (for drinking, swimming and as waste water), air quality, land contamination, waste management and legionellosis. My other areas of interest include the built environment, urban planning and infrastructure, and the impacts of climate change. I support the National Public Health Service (NPHS) - Northern Region public policy group in its work with health districts, local government and government agencies to protect and improve the health of the our people.

I have been a public health medical specialist since 1996, but also worked as a GP, environmental health consultant, a hearings commissioner for resource consents, lecturer in public and environmental health, and a public health advisor with the Ministry of Health, before returning to NPHS in 2014.
