Babies and children under the age of 5 are eligible for BCG immunisation if they meet the criteria. All children must have an eligibility form completed at birth by their Lead Maternity Carer and emailed or faxed directly to ARPHS.
See this link for BCG vaccine information for health professionals (includes eligibility flow chart, list of countries with tuberculosis incidence of ≥ 40 per 100,000 population, and vaccine contraindications).
The Ministry of Health recently revised and updated the national cold chain management documents. Each provider/clinic or hospital department storing and/or administering vaccines is to be familiar and compliant with the following documents.
We support immunisation as a safe and effective way to help prevent serious illness in babies and children.
