Disease and illness

National Public Health Service (NPHS) - Northern Region is responsible for investigating cases of infectious diseases, to protect the health of everyone in Tāmaki Makaurau.

We seek to identify where these diseases came from, stop their spread within our community, and prevent them from happening again.

Some diseases are notifiable, which means they have to be reported to the Medical Officer of Health. NPHS - Northern Region receives notifications from general practitioners (GPs), laboratories and the public.

If you are sick or concerned about your health contact your doctor or call Healthline on 0800 611 116.

In an emergency dial 111, or visit an accident and medical clinic or a hospital emergency department.
